Frequently asked questions about our Mail Order Respiratory Services.

1. What insurance does NeighborCare accept for respiratory medications?

  • NeighborCare currently accepts Medicare only for direct billing on your behalf.
  • You may also pay privately for your medications and submit them to your insurance company for reimbursement.

2. Does NeighborCare bill my insurance company directly?

  • NeighborCare will bill Medicare directly once we verify your benefits and your prescription with your doctor. Medicare covers 80% and you would be responsible for the remaining 20%. We will bill your secondary insurance if you have coverage.

3. What respiratory medications are covered under Medicare?

  • NeighborCare provides the following unit dose medications that are covered under Medicare:

  • Click on the specific type of medication to see more detailed information. Our pharmacy can also answer questions for you when you place your order.

4. If I am receiving medications through another pharmacy can I change to NeighborCare?

  • You are responsible for contacting your current pharmacy to discontinue their service. Call our pharmacy at 888-636-7378 and they will guide you through the process.

5. What information do I need to provide to NeighborCare to fill my prescription?

  • NeighborCare needs your Medicare number information, your physician's name and address and your prescription in addition to your name, address and phone number.

6. How often do I need to renew my prescription?

  • NeighborCare will renew your prescription once a year unless your doctor changes your medication order. We will request a signed prescription whenever there is a change in your medication or dosage.

7. How much medication will I receive?

  • NeighborCare provides with you a one month supply of your medications for the first prescription and all refills.

8. What is a unit dose respiratory medication?

  • Unit dose means that your medication will come in a pre-mixed vial, based on your prescription. It is for your convenience so that you don't need to measure each dose for every nebulizer treatment.

9. How will I obtain my respiratory medication refill every month?

  • Our pharmacy will call you once a month to confirm your medication supply and arrange for your next refill. Our staff will also check to make sure that your prescription hasn't changed or been discontinued and follow-up with your doctor, if necessary.
